1. The flag is divided into three main sections: The left green segment represents Peninsular (Western) Malaysia, the blue section represents the South China Sea, and the right green region represents Borneo (Eastern) Malaysia. 2. The leftmost star has ten points to represent the ten regions in Eastern Malaysia, the crescent moon represents the influence of Islam uniting the nation, and the right-most star has five points for the two regions within Eastern Malaysia as well as the three Malaysian Federal Territories. 3. The top right and bottom left torn sections represent the secession of Singapore and Brunei. 4. The top centre contains a sticker of the Bank Negara Malaysia, which is responsible for the production of the Malaysian ringgit. 5. The centre of the flag contains a Malaysia POS custom packing label and a torn BEIC sticker.
