Suburban Utopia, An Infertile Place (SU4IP)
Lyndon Watkinson

Lyndon Watkinson (1999) is an artist, designer, writer, and musician based in Sheffield, UK. Democratising art and art context through artworks, publications, graphic design, articles, and sound. Creative director and founder of the online arts organisation SU4IP. His work is characterised by a desire for precision, often depicting aesthetics that celebrate and criticise the absurdity of corporatized identity, calling into question the necessity of creating false exteriors when what is not seen is often just as important.

In late 2020, a blog post entitled Suburban Utopia, An Infertile Place formed part of the wider inquiry and development of his practice for his bachelor's degree in fine art. As his work matured, he applied this term as a formalisation of his creative endeavours, later abbreviating it to SU4IP, now used as a digital alias and publishing entity.

About
Nigeria,

Digital Collage, 2021

1. The five horizontal blue, green, and beige sections represent the various climates within Nigeria in relation to their geographical adjacency to each other. 2. The bottom teal section has a gold border to portray how this is the most population dense, as well as the most profitable region within the nation. 3. To the right is a banner of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Limited Plc, large in size to represent how Nigeria has the largest and healthiest economy in all of Africa. 4. The centre of the flag contains a twelve-pointed star, representing the twelve main linguistic groups of Nigeria. This star is intersected by three blue lines, which represent the intersecting Niger and Benue rivers. 5. Above the bottom teal section are the symbols of Christianity and Islam, overlaying artefacts of the eight major indigenous religions found within Nigeria prior to the arrival of Christianity and Islam. 6. Overlaying the flag as usual is a custom Nigeria Postal Service packing sticker with a torn BIEC sticker, overlaid by a Nigerian postal stamp from 1975.
