Suburban Utopia, An Infertile Place (SU4IP)
Lyndon Watkinson
Lyndon Watkinson (1999) is an artist, designer, writer, and musician based in Sheffield, UK. Democratising art and art context through artworks, publications, graphic design, articles, and sound. Creative director and founder of the online arts organisation SU4IP. His work is characterised by a desire for precision, often depicting aesthetics that celebrate and criticise the absurdity of corporatized identity, calling into question the necessity of creating false exteriors when what is not seen is often just as important.
In late 2020, a blog post entitled Suburban Utopia, An Infertile Place formed part of the wider inquiry and development of his practice for his bachelor's degree in fine art. As his work matured, he applied this term as a formalisation of his creative endeavours, later abbreviating it to SU4IP, now used as a digital alias and publishing entity.

Artist Book by SU4IP - Volume I
Three unique catalogues, one hundred and eleven artists. Glorious on a coffee table; excellent as reference material.
The debut installment of the Artist Book by SU4IP series, Tension brings together the work of twenty-one artists to investigate how themes, concepts, or representations of tension can be illustrated within creative processes. In doing so, the viewer is encouraged to find respite in discomfort, and explore the diverse ways in which the theme of tension can be cultivated.
Weightless is an antidote to this concept, instead choosing to focus on lightness, tranquility, and otherworldliness. Thirty-five artists showcase how this can be applied through a variety of creative approaches, providing a portable haven filled with lightness and calming spaces infused with meaningful visual dialogue.
Acting as a celebration of the mundane, Noir seeks to allow darkness to seep through to the surface. In acknowledgement that in order to truly appreciate positivity, we must allow space for negativity to exist. Art is a tool to allow us to address this, and best prepare us for difficulty or strife. In this edition, fifty-five artists apply their sensibility to further engage with the bleaker aspects of our existence can be visualised.
